Forty years ago I took this photo of Robin Smith hitting a six at Northlands Road. The image was used as the basis for his official benefit painting. We lost Robin this month, too young. In the days after his death I wrote a spoken word piece about our old friend and England great, and I’m humbled that the Smith family liked it so much they will be using it in his funeral service. It’s an incredibly sad time, but I’m honoured to be part of his farewell in Perth, Australia.
